CoLab's 3D measurement tools let you measure 3D models for detailed inspection or to include with your feedback for colleagues. These tools are located in the 3D toolbar.
Available measurement tools
Measure edges
To measure an edge, click the Measure edges icon and select an edge on the model.
Measure radius
To measure a radius, click the Measure radius icon and select an arc of circle on the model.
Measure diameter
To measure a diameter, click the Measure diameter icon and select an arc or circle on the model.
Measure angle between faces
To measure the angle between two faces, click the Measure angle between faces icon and select two faces on the model.
Measure angle between points
To measure the angle between points, click the Measure angle between points icon and select two points on the model.
Measure distance
To measure the distance between faces, edges, and circle centres, click the Measure distance icon and select two faces, edges, or circle centres on the model.
Measure point to point
To measure the distance between two points, click the Measure point to point icon and select two points on the model.
Show coordinates
To display the global coordinates of a point, click the Show coordinates icon and select a point on the model.
Positioning measurements
You can click and drag measurements to adjust the measurement's position in the viewer.
View axis/coordinate measurements
You can view the X, Y, and/or Z measurements for the Measure point to point and Measure distance tools. To view a measurement, click the absolute measurement and X, Y, and Z icons should appear next to the absolute measurement. Then click the axis measurements you want to view.
Deleting measurements
To remove all measurements and exit the measurement too, press the esc key.
To remove individual measurements, click on the measurement and press "Delete".
Measurement settings
To change the units of measurement or number of decimal places, click the ‘Settings’ icon on the 3D toolbar and change your measurement preferences under the ‘General’ tab. For more information on the Settings menu, see 3D Viewer Settings.
Limitations
The CoLab Viewer relies on Boundary Representation (BREP) data for measurement tools. For file formats that do not have BREP data, the measurement tools that rely on BREP data will be hidden.
