CoLab's Follow Mode gives you the ability to see what’s happening on a peer’s screen while you’re viewing the same design file. This article explains how to use the feature.
Followers and Leaders
In CoLab’s Follow mode, there are two types of users: Leaders and Followers.
- A leader is defined as the person navigating around the model, and possibly leading the design review session
- A follower is defined as a user that is following and leader and viewing everything a leader is doing
How to follow another user
Begin by navigating to the workspace where you plan to collaborate and open the file you and your colleagues want to view together. It's important to note that Follow mode is compatible with all 2D and 3D file types, including PDFs and images.
Once the file is open, you'll notice your avatar next to the Add User button in the navigation bar. You'll also see the avatars of all other users who are currently viewing the same file. To follow a specific user, simply click on their avatar.
A banner will appear at the top of the viewer to indicate who you are following.
If no other avatars are shown in the Navigation bar, it means you are the only person currently viewing that file
Feedback and Follow mode
As a follower, you may want to leave your own feedback or command your own navigation of the file. By clicking anywhere in the viewer, you will automatically stop following the leader.
To return to following the leader, click on their avatar in the navigation bar to rejoin the session in progress.
As a leader
As a leader in Follow mode, your flow will never be disrupted by others following you. At any time, you can quickly see how many people are following you with the Following icon.
Hover over the Following icon to see who exactly is following you.
