You can review video assets, such as real-world process recordings or simulation outputs, directly in CoLab. These files can be uploaded to your workspace or portal drive and added to a review, just like any other asset.
Currently, supported video file formats are MP4, WEBM and MOV. For a full list of file types that can be uploaded to CoLab, see our supported file formats guide.
Viewing a video file
Once you have loaded a video file in the viewer, you can control video playback using the toolbar at the bottom of the viewer.
The progress bar shows you how far through the video you are. Click anywhere along this bar to jump to a different time in the video. Additionally there are various controls available beneath the progress bar. From left to right, these are:
Play / Pause.
Mute / Unmute.
Skip back 5 seconds.
Skip forward 5 seconds.
Select playback speed - you can play the video at various speeds from 0.25 speed, up to 2x speed.
Enter / exit fullscreen.
Creating timestamped feedback on a video
Reviewers can create feedback on the video and CoLab automatically captures the current timestamp. To leave feedback on the video:
First, use the video playback controls to navigate to the specific time you would like to reference in your feedback.
Then, click on the feedback button at the top of the viewer. This will open a feedback card where you can type your feedback. The video timestamp will be noted on the submit button.
Click on the submit button, or hit enter on your keyboard to submit the feedback.
The feedback will be saved in the file's feedback panel, and there will be a feedback pin on the video progress bar at the referenced timestamp.
You can hover over the feedback pins on the progress bar to see a preview of the feedback. Clicking on a pin will skip to that timestamp in the video, and open the feedback in the feedback panel.
It is currently not possible to draw or add markup on a video file.
