Installing the Jira integration

Integrate Jira with CoLab to automate creation and sync issues.

šŸ’” A user must be an admin both for CoLab and for Jira to install the Jira integration.

To install the Jira integration, first navigate to your Company & Admin section and select Integrations.

Next, click on the Jira Cloud option on that page and select "Connect".

This will open the installation modal. Click Connect again to start the process.

This will open a window that asks you to confirm that you would like to connect your Atlassian account with CoLab. We recommend creating a custom user for the CoLab integration, as that will make understanding how tickets are created very clear in Jira.

Once you've selected the user that CoLab will act as, select "Continue" to return to the CoLab integrations screen.

Your installation modal will now show a drop-down list of what Jira sites you can connect. Choose the site you would like to integrate with CoLab and select "Finish" to complete the installation.

Set up configurations

Configurations are the central automation rules that sync Jira and CoLab.

To begin, select "+Add Configuration" on the Jira Cloud integration page.

Name your configuration and select the CoLab workspace it will be listening to and acting within.

Once you have selected a workspace, you will need to choose a rule type from the following options:

  • Send all feedback.

  • Send all feedback by feedback type. This only sends feedback to Jira when feedback of a specific type is left in CoLab.

  • Send all feedback by tag. This sends only sends feedback to Jira when feedback is left with a specific tag.

Select "Next" to complete the creation and move to configuration.

Map your fields from Jira to CoLab

Select your project (1) where you would like to send issues, and what issue type (2) you would like those issues to be created as (epic, task, etc).

For "Send all feedback" and "Send all feedback by tag" rule types, the only field you need to map is description - everything else will sync by default. You can choose what field you want to be in the description of the Jira issue. These changes will auto-save, so just click "X" in the top right to exit the modal when you are done with your configuration.

For "Send all feedback by feedback type" rules, you can map additional fields at your discretion. Select the Jira field on the left (1) and the CoLab application field you would like it to match on the right (2). These changes will also auto-save, so just click "X" in the top right to exit the modal when you are done with your configuration.
