Set Up the CoLab Integration for 3DEXPERIENCE

Set up the CoLab integration in 3DEXPERIENCE. Once configured, users can add the widget to their dashboards and start uploading files.

Prerequisites

  • Administrator permissions in 3DEXPERIENCE

  • Access to Platform Management

ℹ️ Info
The CoLab integration uses 3DEXPERIENCE Web Services to retrieve CAD data and securely upload it to CoLab.


Create the CoLab App

Navigate to:
Platform Management → Members → Invite & Grant Roles

In Additional Apps, click Create Additional App

Enter the following values:

  • Short Name: CoLab

  • Long Name: CoLab Widget

  • Type: Widget

  • Storage Type: External

  • Source Code URL: ​Contact CoLab support to request the widget URL

  • Configuration File URL: Leave blank

  • Preview (optional): Use this file

💡 Tip

  • You can customize the app names (Short Name and Long Name)

  • The source code can be hosted internally, if needed. Contact [email protected] for more information.

  • By default, the widget is Available to all members. You can disable this and assign access per user or role.

CAD Compatibility

⚠️ Important
Cloud CAD environments (CATIA V6, SolidWorks Cloud) and drawings (2D) require Derived Outputs to be generated in 3DEXPERIENCE (contact your 3DEXPERIENCE partner to enable automatic Derived Outputs).

  • Desktop CAD → Authoring Files are automatically available

  • Cloud CAD or drawings → Derived Outputs must be configured
