AutoReview: Checklists

AutoReview's Peer Checker can leverage your checklists to guide individual peer checker runs and produce more relevant, targeted results.

AutoReview's built-in checklists

A review can be done from the perspective of a variety of engineering experts. AutoReview's Peer Checker comes with a set of built-in checklists, for both 3D models and 2D drawings, that represent what certain experts typically check.

  • Standard checks

  • Sheet metal checks

  • Machining checks

  • Injection molding checks

  • Casting checks

Users can choose to run an AutoReview analysis with one of these checklists, or with one of their company's own checklist templates.

How to make your own checklists available for AutoReview

Company admins can designate checklist templates for AutoReview, which will allow their team to leverage the company’s own checklists in AutoReview runs.

Admins can find this functionality under: Company settings > General > Checklist templates. A new column titled “Available in AutoReview” has been added to the checklist template table.

An ‘Enable’ button will appear on checklist templates that are compatible, but not currently available, to AutoReview. Simply click this button to make the checklist available to AutoReview. This means the AutoReview Peer Checker will able to take the checklist name, items and descriptions as input.

Note: Checklists that have been enabled for AutoReview will be available in all workspaces.

AutoReview checklist best practices

When creating checklists for AutoReview, keep checklist items specific and tightly scoped for optimal results. The following areas can be reviewed in drawings using custom checklists:

  • GD&T functional application datum strategy

  • GD&T syntax standard compliance

  • GD&T specification application

  • Dimension definition completeness

  • Missing dimensions

  • Dimensional consistency

  • Dimensioning scheme readability

  • Typo detection

  • Fasteners threads specification

  • Tolerance specification

  • View layout section integrity

  • Material inconsistency

  • BOM part callout consistency

3D AutoReview custom checklist support is more open-ended. Keep checklists under 50 items for best performance.

How to prevent AutoReview using a checklist

By default, a checklist will not be made available to AutoReview unless it has explicitly been enabled by an administrator.

To disable a checklist that is currently available to AutoReview, simply click the 'Disable' button on the checklist template.

Incompatible checklists

Some checklists may contain instructions that AutoReview cannot use due to prompt-security safeguards. These will be marked with a 'Not Compatible' status. The checklist will not appear as a checklist option when running a new AutoReview Peer Checker analysis, however it is still available for human-created reviews.

How to use checklists in AutoReview

Users can find all checklists available to AutoReview by clicking on the checklist selector in the AutoReview Peer Checker prompt window.

Your company's own checklists will be listed under 'Your Checklists', while AutoReview's built-in checklists will be listed under 'Other checklists'. You can also use the search function to find a specific checklist.

To begin a Peer Checker analysis using a checklist, simply select the desired checklist and click the run button (⬆️) . You can also enter a prompt to accompany your checklist review (check out this article for prompting tips). To initiate a review with just a checklist, leave the prompt window blank.

When the analysis is complete, you can see the various checks that were run in the checklist tab in the AutoReview panel. The number of feedback items associated with each check will also be indicated.
