💡 This feature is available to users on our Pro and Scale plans. If you don't have access to this feature but think it would be valuable, please reach out to your Success Manager to discuss options.
Generating your initial analysis
Click on the 'Wall thickness' icon to bring you to a new sidebar panel that will give you access the analysis tools.
💡 This tool is available on 3D models that contains boundary representation (or BREP) data. This data is required for the analysis to run - the tool will not be available for models without it.
Before running your analysis, ensure you are happy with the Resolution setting. This controls how many vertices are being checked when running the analysis. Each option will have an impact on load times, with low being the fastest and high being the slowest.
Optionally, you can turn off lighting effects in the viewer, which will make your model more matte and may increase visibility during your analysis.
When the settings have been adjusted to your needs, click on the Run analysis button to begin the analysis.
Post-analysis tools
When the analysis is complete, the model will reload with the color-coding gradient applied, and the color scale in the panel will update with thickness values. The unit of measurement is millimeters (mm).
💡 While an analysis is in progress, the viewing mode of the 3D viewer cannot be changed. It will be set to ‘Shaded With Lines’ mode.
Adjusting the thickness scale
Initially, the color-scale values are auto-generated based on the thinnest (blue) and thickest (red) values found in the model. If you wish to focus on certain thresholds, you can edit the minimum and maximum values on the scale.
Editing these values will trigger the scale to adjust the middle values accordingly, and the model will reload in the viewer with the new values. A reset button will appear if a value have been modified - allowing you to reset the scale to the original values.
Probe tool
Now that an analysis has been run, the probe tool becomes accessible.
When this tool is selected, you can click on the model to display the thickness value. Dragging the resulting line to anywhere on the model and clicking again will drop a label indicating the thickness value.
💡 The probe tool will not be available if the explode view is active.
Re-running the analysis
Changing the resolution after analysis has been run, will activate the Run analysis button again - allowing you to run a new analysis with the new resolution setting.
Exiting the analysis
Clicking the Exit Analysis button at any time will exit the analysis - the values and color gradient applied to the model will be removed.
💡 The analysis details will be lost unless feedback has been added to the model while the analysis was active.
Saving your analysis
You can leave feedback on the model while your Wall Thickness Analysis is active, and the feedback will retain the analysis details.
When viewing that piece of feedback, the color scale and values will be visible on a card in the 'feedback details' tab.
Clicking the ‘Show analysis’ option on the card will refresh the 3D viewer with the color gradient applied to the model. Clicking ‘Exit analysis’ will return the 3D viewer to normal.
If the thickness values were edited prior to the feedback being created, the card will reflect the edited values. There will also be a note that the values had been edited and will show what the original min/max values were.
