Using CAD BoMs

Updated over a week ago

A CAD BoM (Computer Aided Design Bill of Materials) is a tabular report of a 3D model’s properties and metadata. CAD BoMs make it easier to navigate and compare assembly, part, and component properties.

Properties and metadata associated with the source file will be captured in the CAD BoM, such as:

  • Part numbers

  • Version data

  • Author information

  • Material properties

  • Geometric information

  • Any custom properties you’ve created

Using CAD BoMs in CoLab

CoLab will automatically generate a CAD BoM for any model you upload to a workspace. To interact with the CAD BoM, simply click the BoM icon in the bottom toolbar of the 3D viewer.
