Review notes

All reviews contain a notes section designed to make it easy for your team to document review-related information.

Creating review notes

Create a new review, or click into an existing review. To access the notes, click the 'Review notes' card in the 'files' tab of the review panel.

Collaborative editing and mentions

Multiple people can add and edit content simultaneously, with unique cursors for each user. You can also tag and notify team members directly within the notes. Mentions (using the @ symbol) trigger in-app and email notifications depending on user settings, streamlining communication within your team.

Version history

Review notes maintain version history, so you can revisit older versions, compare changes, and restore or revert as needed. Version history can be accessed from the breadcrumbs menu.

Rich text capabilities

You can use rich text options to enhance your text formatting. Keyboard shortcuts can be used to bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, create bullet lists, numbered lists, add hyperlinks, headers, align text, and use advanced table functionality. Here's a quick guide to the rich text keyboard shortcuts:

View options

Similar to other files in the review, review notes can be viewed in a separate tab or in split-view alongside the files being reviewed. To access the view options, click on the 'more options' menu on the review notes card.

Managing permissions

By default, workspace admins and full access users have review note edit permissions, while limited access users donโ€™t.

Administrators can control who can add or edit content on review notes using custom roles. When creating a custom role in the Roles & Permissions settings page, you can find the โ€œEdit review notesโ€ permission under the 'Reviews' section. This can be toggled on or off.
