Manage Issues Using the Side Panels

Manage Issues Using the Side Panels

Add details to the issue(s)

After creating an issue, there are two ways to open the issue to add details to it:

  1. Click anywhere on the issue pop up card and it will open in the left sidebar
  2. Click ‘More Options’ on the issue pop up card and select ‘View Issue’

Once the issue is opened in the left sidebar, you can add issue details. This includes changing the issue status, issue description, attach images or take a screenshot, change the assignee, add a due date, issue label, and priority.

At any point, any user in the Workspace can discuss the issue via the ‘Comments’ box in the issue panel. This is a great way to discuss design changes or questions.

You may notice that issues are listed in both the left panel and right panels in CoLab. So what’s the difference and what is their purpose?

Left panel

  • Contains all issues in a workspace

Right panel

  • Contains only issues and file revisions for the file open in the viewer

Here’s how we recommend using the left and right panels together:

  1. Open a 3D model from the ‘Files’ button on the left sidebar
  2. Once you have a 3D Model open, see the 3D pins on the model
  3. Close the left panel for more viewer real etate
  4. Open the ‘File Issues’ or ‘File Details’ by clicking the Issues button or Revisions button on the right sidebar, respectively
  5. From the right panel, click on an issue in the list to navigate to that issue on the model
  6. Click through all the issues in the right panel to walk through all the issues in the model
  7. Click the issue card in the viewer to get more details.

Want to notify another user of an issue?

You can only assign an issue to one user, but you can subscribe or mention other users in an issue so they have visibility. All users subscribed or mentioned in an issue will receive notifications about that issue, in addition to the person assigned to the issue.

Right panel - Issues App

Whereas the left panel issues list contains all issues in a workspace, the right panel contains issues and file revisions relating only to the file you have open in the viewer. If you’re working on a file and only care about that file’s issues, we recommend closing the left panel all together for clarity.

To view only the issues for the file open in the viewer:

  1. Open the ‘Issues App’ by clicking the ‘Issues’ button on the right sidebar
  2. The issues list that opens in the right panel contains the issues only for the file open in the viewer

  1. To view an issue’s details, double click the issue card in the right panel (the issue card will highlight light blue instead of white), and the issue details will open in the left panel. Edit issue details as desired.

To edit an issue title from the right panel:

  1. Click the ‘Choose Options’ menu on an issue card in the right panel
  2. Select ‘Edit’ to edit the issue title

To delete an issue from the right panel:

  1. Click the ‘Choose Options’ menu on an issue card in the right panel
  2. Select ‘Delete’ to delete the issue

Right panel - File Details

To view only the file revisions for the file open in the viewer:

  1. Open the ‘File Details’ by clicking the ‘Revisions’’ button on the right sidebar
  2. The revisions list that opens in the right panel contains the file revisions only for the file open in the viewer

To upload a new file revision:

  1. Click the ‘Upload New Revision’
  2. Drag and drop files from your computer or select ‘Choose Files’. For more info on uploading a 3D Model, see ‘Upload a 3D File’ .
  3. Once the file is loaded, click ‘Upload Revision’
  4. The file revision will display in the Revisions list in the right panel
